A day trip from Kyoto, the photos do not do it justice. 
We had a picnic in the park and then followed a trail down to the river.
We stumbled on a boat launch.
We took a 30 minute river boat ride pushed by a punter with a long bamboo pole.
The water was brilliant turquoise. 
This was a boat selling drinks and snacks, and it had a small habatchi on board grilling octopus for sale. 
The oldest temple in Tokyo, it was crowded with people.
On each side, there are souvenir shops and snacks.

We found a playground nearby, the Tokyo Skytree in the background.
It was nice to find a place to escape the crowds and burn off some steam.

Riding the bus. You pay when you leave through the front doors. There is a change machine next to the driver.
A very nice outdoor, muli-level shopping mall in downtown Hiroshima.
Our new favourite store, Uniqlo, which was located on the 2nd floor.
The atomic dome. This is one of the few buildings that survived the near to the center of the blast.
This is the original ground zero. Not much to see other than a small plaque. The atomic bomb exploded above this spot.
This marks the spot where the A bomb fell. They call this spot the Hypocenter.
The children’s’ monument. There are thousands of folded paper cranes in each of those kiosks.
The flame of peace. In the background is the musuem. Entry fee is about 50 cents.

The building in the distance is called Hotel High Up. It is one of the shortest buildings in the neighbourhood.
