Bamboo Grove, Arashiyama

We had a picnic in the park and then followed a trail down to the river.2015-10-14 12.15.15

We stumbled on a boat launch.

We took a 30 minute river boat ride pushed by a punter with a long bamboo pole.2015-10-14 12.48.56

Senso-ji

The oldest temple in Tokyo, it was crowded with people.

Everyday life in Hiroshima

Hiroshima

The atomic dome. This is one of the few buildings that survived the near to the center of the blast.
This is the original ground zero. Not much to see other than a small plaque.  The atomic bomb exploded above this spot.IMG_0916.JPG

This marks the spot where the A bomb fell.  They call this spot the Hypocenter.IMG_0915-0.jpg

The children’s’ monument.  There are thousands of folded paper cranes in each of those kiosks.IMG_0927-0.jpg

The flame of peace.  In the background is the musuem.  Entry fee is about 50 cents.

Ringing the bell of peace

The building in the distance is called Hotel High Up.  It is one of the shortest buildings in the neighbourhood.
